Sateen floats four threads over one, which puts more thread surface on top. That is where the softness and the low sheen come from — and it is why sateen is the weave that makes a listing photograph look expensive.
It sleeps a little warmer than percale. In a cabin in February that is a feature. In Phoenix in July, buy the percale.

The most photographed sheet in the catalog. Colours are chosen to sit against warm wood and white walls without going grey on camera.
Wash warm with like colours. A commercial wash at 60°C is fine and will not shorten the life of the fibre. Tumble dry low and remove while very slightly damp — that is the single habit that keeps cotton feeling new.
Skip fabric softener. It coats the fibre, and a coated fibre stops absorbing, which is exactly the opposite of what you paid for.
